City cleaning will seek to prevent the fly

Bend’s annual cleanup will begin early this year. Next week is the start time, announces Fire Chief Tom Carlon, who declares that the main goal starting before winter is apparently over is to “smash the fly” before the bug appears. “We claim to have removed all cans and all debris of any kind that could serve as breeding grounds or food for flies,” he said. “We believe that nuisance flies in Bend can be largely prevented in this way.”
