Pet overpopulation is part of the consequences of COVID-19; humane society asks for help | News 81 logo

The COVID-19 pandemic sent the local cat population into a tailspin, according to Gina Christopher of the Have a Heart Humane Society.

Have a Heart was founded in 2010 by Christopher’s parents, Ted and Chelley Kitzmiller. When his mother died in 2016, Christopher stepped up and worked with other long-time volunteers, including Ruthanne Jennings, to keep the organization going.
