New volunteers wanted to assist save lives at sea at Southend-on-Sea RNLI

The RNLI is searching for new store volunteers to hitch its Southend-on-Sea RNLI lifesaving staff.

Just like the charity’s lifeboats, the RNLI retail staff wants a staff of devoted volunteers – individuals of all ages and talents – who can provide a bit of time to assist save lives at sea.

Doris Banning has been a retailer supervisor for the RNLI in Southend-on-Sea since 2017. She started volunteering on the retailer in 2014 and after three years turned a retailer supervisor.

‘The Southend-on-Sea RNLI retailer is on the finish of a pier that’s 1.3 miles lengthy, and to me, it appeared like a novel place to volunteer. We even have two lifeboats that may be seen from the store, an Atlantic 85 and a D Class. In addition to promoting their merchandise, the store acts as an data level for all features of the RNLI, so the features are diverse, which I get pleasure from.’

RNLI shops started as easy volunteer-run cake stands to lift cash for his or her native lifeboat station.
