New senior community brings innovative lifestyle to Chattanooga

The new Rockbridge Oaks memory care and assisted living boutique community is under construction in East Brainerd and the showroom for the community is now open on-site at 6698 Palms Ct., off East Brainerd Road.

The showroom offers visitors the opportunity to view the community’s floor plans and learn more about the innovative programs this senior rental community will offer residents. The community is planned to open in late summer.

Rockbridge Oaks is designed as an intimate senior residential community with just 62 private studio, one and two-bedroom residences arranged in a two-story building. It is located within an exclusive gated community off I-75, five miles from downtown Chattanooga. Hospitals, shopping, and entertainment are in close proximity to the community.

Bridgeforth Capital, a private equity firm, is developing the community. Morgan Construction Company, Inc., based in Chattanooga, is the general contractor and construction management company. The community will be managed by Solvere Living, a national operator of senior living communities based in St. Petersburg, Florida. which manages communities in Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Texas.

In addition to the services provided to residents, Rockbridge Oaks has a unique emphasis on outdoor green space. Large outdoor recreation areas are included in the community. The Maclellan Courtyard Oasis offers a pavilion, outdoor BBQ grill and outdoor dining areas. Walking trails, lawn games, and a community fire pit are also located within the community grounds.

“Research on successful aging indicates that urban green spaces have a tremendous impact on the well-being of everyone, including older adults,” said Kristin Ward, president and CEO of Solvere Living. “The quality of life for older people residing in a community, as well as for team members and visitors, is improved, and access to green space can promote mental and physical health.”

Ms. Ward said that through research and experience with her other assisted living communities, they have learned that many future residents may have enjoyed gardening and outdoor activities with their families. They are accustomed to enjoying the outdoors and will appreciate the extensive green space that will be added to the Rockbridge Oaks campus.

The community’s architectural design will offer an environment that, while modern in design, is geared toward creating a more cohesive community and more personal and intimate experiences for residents, officials said. Fostering independence, safety, and support is an integral part of community programming.

Rockbridge Oaks incorporates the proprietary wellness philosophies of Solvere Living, Salus and Valeo. Salus (Latin for “wellness”) is a holistic approach that focuses on each resident’s potential to achieve their personal goals through engagement and connection. Valeo (Latin for “thrive”) specifically focuses on wellness initiatives for people with memory impairments that help build relationships with others and grow connections through positive approaches to social interaction.

The community lifestyle fosters the physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual well-being of each resident. Plan to dine anytime with chef-prepared seasonal dishes served in the community dining room. Additional interior amenities include an event center, movie theater, art studio, library, salon and spa, and business center. There is also a private dining room for family gatherings.

The monthly service fee includes personalized fitness and wellness programs at the community gym. Rockbridge will offer 24-hour health support and an emergency response system. The wellness director coordinates with on-site medical and ancillary services, including visiting physicians, home health providers, and rehabilitation services.

Rockbridge Oaks Valeo Neighborhood (memory care) is designed for residents with Alzheimer’s and memory problems who need 24-hour supervised care. A separate dining room and event center are accessible for these residents to enjoy.

New technology systems are included at Rockbridge Oaks, such as the Accushield registration and assessment system, Caremerge for family and community engagement, and the state-of-the-art ALIS electronic health system for care management.

“We are very excited about the Rockbridge Oaks community,” said Ms. Ward. “We look forward to meeting the growing demand from families in the Chattanooga area who are looking for a smaller, more intimate, upscale community in a park-like setting. In addition, our wellness philosophies, Salus and Valeo, which we introduced to senior communities more than seven years ago, help older adults stay physically active and thrive in all dimensions of wellness. That’s what successful aging is all about.”
