Midland and Meridian School Districts Named ‘Best Communities for Music Education’

Meridian Public Schools and Midland Public Schools have been honored with the NAMM Foundation Best Communities for Music Education designation for their outstanding commitment to music education.

Now in its 23rd year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music education and access to all students.

“The Midland Public Schools Music Program is a great source of pride for our district, and we are honored that Midland is now recognized as one of the 2022 Best Communities for Music Education,” said MPS Superintendent , Michael Sharrow, in a statement. “Our talented music students and educators win notable honors and awards every year. Their performances, whether on a football field, in an auditorium, in a school gym, at Dow Gardens or wherever they perform, they bring great joy and admiration to their audiences.”

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Midland Public Schools and Meridian Public Schools reported information on funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instructional time, facilities, music program support, and community programs. of music creation.

This is the ninth year in a row that Meridian Public Schools has earned the Best Communities for Music Education honor.
