Fentanyl test strips help save lives

When Ian Eisenberg’s friend died of a fentanyl overdose last year, the problem of street drugs laced with this powerful synthetic opioid got personal. “People who take drugs that they don’t even know are cutting with fentanyl is just a symptom of a bigger problem that I don’t know how to solve,” says Eisenberg, who recently began give away fentanyl test strips people can drink anonymously at Uncle Ike’s Bottle Shop and in the lobby between the Capitol Hill Pot Shop entrance and Angel’s Shoe Repair (unlicensed locations). “My goal is to provide at least a little damage reduction.”
